Palampur 31 May.Prof. H.K.Chaudhary,Vice Chancellor was conferred with the honorary rank of Colonel Commandant of NCC in an impressive pipping ceremony at CSK H.P. Agriculture University, here today.Brigadier Rohit Datta decorated Prof Chaudhary with Col Commandent rank. In his address Brig Datta conveyed congratulations to the Vice Chancellor on behalf of Director General NCC and the nation and said that only 13 Vice Chancellors have been conferred this Honorary Col rank this year.He said that the Vice Chancellor is nurturing his institution excellently and contributing much to the society by inspiring all to become better citizens.Brig Datta asked all to contribute in the nation building activities.He also elaborated about the sanctity of uniform.He asked cadets to imbibe traits like honestly, sincerity,etc. Attired in army uniform, Vice Chancellor Prof H.K.Chaudhary, in his address, said that it was a day of glory for the University and for him too.He remembered his late mother and expressed his gratitude to army authorities for the honour.Prof Chaudhary detailed history and vision of NCC.He assured to strengthen NCC activities in the University and thanked NCC authorities for raising strength of University NCC cadets from 100 to 200.He also detailed various achievements of NCC cadets including clearing ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate examinations in good numbers, regularly donating blood to the needy patients, etc.He told that the University NCC cadets are joining Indian armed forces as officers at regular intervals. The Vice Chancellor asked parents to develop passion in their children for serving the nation. Col Aashutosh, Lt Col B.S.Khandka, Commander, NCC 5 HP Company Dharamshala, University statutory officers, scientists, relatives of the Vice Chancellor including his father Sh Bishsn Das Chaudhary, wife Dr Parveen Lata Chaudhary and around 200 NCC cadets of the University were present in the ceremony. University NCC officer Dr Ankur Sharma conducted the proceedings.
