Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Langroya, in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU, and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, organized a block-level awareness camp on paddy residue management on October 3, 2023, in the adopted village of Daulatpur, aimed towards enlightening farmers about sustainable paddy management practices.

Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training) at KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, emphasized the detrimental effects of crop residue burning and advocated responsible paddy residue management through advanced farm machinery.

Dr Kirandeep, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Engineering), enlightened farmers about various in-situ and ex-situ techniques for effective paddy residue management. He also provided information about machinery for custom hiring to facilitate residue management at KVK Langroya.

Dr Baljit Singh, Assistant Professor (Entomology), guided farmers on integrated pest management techniques tailored for straw-managed fields. Dr Gurinder Singh, Demonstrator (Animal Science), sensitized attendees to the significance of proper animal nutrition and discussed the utilization of paddy straw in animal husbandry practices.

Farmers were equipped with literature related to crop residue management and recommended agricultural practices. Additionally, the event facilitated the sale of seeds for upcoming rabi crops.

Lastly, Dr Maninder Singh Bons extended heartfelt thanks to all participants and expressed gratitude to the members of the Babbar Karam Singh Memorial Trust, Gurdaspur, for their invaluable contributions in making the program a resounding success.
