Field day cum awareness programme was organized on the direct seeding in rice condition by DAATTC & ARS, Tornala on 23.08.2023 at ARS, Tornala, Siddipet (Rural) mandal of Siddipet district. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal attended as chief guest to the programme and addressed the farmers about dry direct seeded rice (DSR), probably the oldest method of crop establishment, is gaining popularity because of its low-input demand. It offers certain advantages viz., it saves labour, requires less water, less drudgery, early crop maturity, low production cost, better soil physical conditions for following crops and less methane emission, provides better option to be the best fit in different cropping systems. Comparative yields in DSR can be obtained by adopting various cultural practices viz., selection of suitable cultivars, proper sowing time, optimum seed rate, proper weed and water management. Later, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist and Head, ARS, Tornala addressed the gathering on the different practices and nutrient management in paddy field. Most of the farmers interacted with the Scientists of DAATTC & ARS, Tornala. Sri. J. Vijay (Coordinator), Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (CP), Dr. N. Sainath, Scientist (SSAC), Mrs. A. Saritha, Scientist (Pl.Br), Dr. E. Uma Rani, Scientist (Pl.Br), Dr. D. Swetha, Scientist (Agro.) from DAATTC & ARS, Tornala also participated in the programme. Later, Devaiah (Sarpanch) from Ibrahimpur (V), Narayanraopet (M) also shared his experiences. 70 farmers from minikit farmers & adopted village (Ibrahimpur) Chittapur, Bussapur, Tornala, Mundrai, Potharam, Ankshapur, Irkode villages have participated in the programme.
