Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib, under the leadership of Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training), organized a village level camp on paddy residue management at village Saundha on 18.10.2023. About 50 farmers from village Saundha participated in the camp. In the camp Dr. G. P. S. Sethi, Assistant Professor (Animal Science) gave detailed information on how to modify paddy straw to use it as animal feed. Mrs. Reet Verma Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) told the farmers about the measures to control the attack of Armyworm and Pink stem borer in wheat and proper baiting technique for management of rodents. Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal emphasized on efficient management of crop residues to protect the environment. He advised to adopt recommended technologies for paddy straw management. He discussed in detail about various machines like happy seeder, smart seeder, surface seeder, mulcher, baler etc. for efficient management of paddy straw. He also informed the farmers about various precautions while cultivating the wheat crop planted with Happy Seeder. During this camp, S. Tirth Singh, S. Sapinder Singh, S. Beant Singh, S. Satnam Singh and other dignitaries of the village also participated in this camp. Finally, the scientists answered farmers’ queries and also distributed necessary publications on crop residue management and machinery.
