A group of 25 farmers from Babina block of Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh visited ICAR-CISH Lucknow on 9th August, 2023. Farmers were made aware of technological interventions in horticultural production for improving production and farmers’ income. High density plantations in mango and guava for enhancing productivity and fruit quality per unit area were discussed. The importance of fruit bagging for quality fruit production and fetching higher market price was explained. Crop diversification was given importance during the training. To enhance farmers’ income, scientific initiatives of diversified fruit crops in non-traditional areas of subtropical region were discussed. Hindi literature on scientific guava, mango, papaya, strawberry production was distributed to farmers. During orchard visit, espalier system of guava, containers gardening of fruits high density of mango orchards etc were shown. During training, scientists Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. K. K. Srivastava, Dr. Naresh Babu and Dr. Tarun Adak delivered lectures. Dr. Naresh Babu (Principal Scientist), Dr. Tarun Adak (Senior Scientist) and Mr. Arvind Kumar (ACTO) organized the training cum field visit for the farmers of Manav Vikas Samaj Sewa Samiti.
