A group of 47 students of B.Sc (Hons.) Agriculture VI semester along with one faculty members from Rajasthan College of Agriculture, MPUA&T, Udaipur, Rajasthan visited at ICAR-CISH Lucknow on 11th August, 2023. Students were apprised about the institute and its divisions like crop improvements and biotechnology, fruit production, protection and post harvest technology. The role of horticulture sector in ensuring food and nutritional security was discussed. Physiological disorder and their management in mango, guava and aonla were presented. ICAR-Fusicont for efficient control of Banana Fusarium wilt, disease and insect controls in Chili, diseases and control measures in Tomato, fruit fly controls in mango orchards were explained. Importance of resource conservation and management for Mallika production was discussed. Scientific micronutrient management for Dashehari production was also explained. Role of water conservation for Amrapali fruit production was presented. Students were motivated for adoption of micro irrigation, nutrient management and climatic adaptation for the benefit of farming community. Students were apprised of newly released vegetable varieties like high yielding cucumber (Long Green-DC83), golden cherry tomato-2 and Raunak Tinda (DRM-26) for nutritional requirements and enhancing farmers’ income across the country. Significant contributions of protected cultivation for producing quality vegetables were discussed. Hindi literatures on scientific orchard management during peak summers, successful vegetables cultivation (cucumber, cherry tomato and squash melon) and pest controls (Fusarium wilt in Banana, fruit fly in mango, diseases in Tomato etc) were distributed among the students. During laboratory visits, students were apprised of value addition of post harvest fruits for improving farmers’ income. Dr. Naresh Babu (Principal Scientist), Dr. Tarun Adak (Senior Scientist) and Dr. S.K Dwivedi (Scientist) delivered lectures and interacted with the students. Dr. Naresh Babu (Principal Scientist), Dr. Tarun Adak (Senior Scientist) and Mr. Arvind Kumar (ACTO) organized the event.
