Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) was established under the name of Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU) on the 12th of June 1964 through the APAU Act 1963 and later, it was renamed as Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University on the 7th of November, 1996 in honour and memory of the noted Parliamentarian and Kisan Leader, Acharya N. G. Ranga. At the verge of completion of Golden Jubilee Year of the ANGRAU, presently located at Lam, Gutnur, Andhra Pradesh, India. it has given birth to a new State Agricultural University of Telangana namely Prof.Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University with the bifurcation of the state of Andhra Pradesh as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014. The ANGRAU at LAM, Guntur is serving the students and the farmers of 26 districts of new State of Andhra Pradesh with renewed interest and dedication.

Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University is a state government’s autonomous organization with it’s diversified Agricultural Scientific and technical work force is striving hard to bring in cheer in the lives of farmers and consumers in this country by developing high yielding varieties, various crop production and protection technologies, etc..Further, it has acquired a new expertise in Drones and artificial intelligence Applications in Agriculture. As a part of this, a dedicated project was initiated during 2020-21 in ANGRAU, i.e. Centre for APSARA (A.P.Sensors and Smart Applications Research in Agriculture) to usher drones and artificial intelligence applications in agriculture towards smart and precision farming. Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University has developed SOP’s to enable stakeholders to use agricultural drones, sensors and IoT applications in agriculture for providing pan India BIS standards, Protocols.
