Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized two days of “Natural farming” training at village Dhingarpur on 5th and 6th March 2024, in which 40 farmers and farm women participated.

On this occasion, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dr Maninder Singh Bons, welcomed the farmers & farm women and highlighted the importance of natural farming in the present situation and threw light on the initiatives undertaken by the KVK for promoting natural farming in project mode, which were being implemented through awareness camps, trainings and demonstrations in district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

During training, Assistant Professor (Entomology) Dr Baljit Singh explained in detail the basic principles and practical aspects of natural farming and discussed pest management strategies.

Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) Dr Arti Verma explained the role and importance of fruits and vegetables in the human diet and the cultivation of summer vegetables and mushrooms. She also discussed the various vocational training programmes to motivate the trainees to adopt allied agriculture vocations.

Assistant Professor (Home Science) Dr Rajinder Kaur discussed the role of nutritional food in our lives. She also shared information on different aspects of Self-Help Groups, such as record keeping, saving balance, and revolving funds.

On the concluding day, Dr Baljit Singh and Dr Arti Verma conducted method demonstrations on preparing jeev amrit, beej Amrit, and Brahma astra. The trainees were also provided with PAU literature and a summer vegetable seed kit.

Ultimately, Dr Arti Verma thanked Krishi Sakhi of village Dhingarpur, Smt. Joginder Kaur, for helping organize this training.
