ICAR- Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai in collaboration with   Department of Preventive Oncology, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai organized ‘Common Cancer Awareness Program’ in line with DARE-ICAR Campaign for India@75 on 25th May, 2023 in hybrid mode. The program was coordinated by Internal Committee of the Institute.

The program started at 2:30 pm. Dr. Sujata Saxena, Director (acting), ICAR-CIRCOT welcomed the team of medical experts from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and all the participants. She expressed that Cancer is one of the scariest word even till today but with regular screening and in time preventive measures and treatment we can survive the disease.

Dr. Aditi Dey enlightened the participants with basic causes and symptoms of breast cancer, cervical cancer and tobacco related oral cancer; their early detection and preventive measures. She informed about beta testing of cervical cancer vaccines as well. Ms. Parishi Majumdar educated the participants on harmful effects of tobacco use and risk factors, treatment etc. Both the experts answered the queries raised by female participants and appealed for regular screening and also guided about different cancer screening and treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

Dr. Sharmila Patil, Scientist & Chairman, Internal Committee hosted the program. Ms. Sujatha Koshy, SAO & Secretary, Internal Committee delivered vote of thanks.

The program was attended by more than 100 viewers in hybrid mode which included staff members along with their family members and stakeholders of the Institute.
