Ginning Training Centre, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Nagpur organized an awareness programme “Value addition to Cotton Biomass” in association with CottonGold Farmer Producer Company Ltd., Ghatanji, Yavatmal district on April 28, 2023. A total of 50 farmers participated in the programme.

The programme was inaugurated by lightening of lamps and brief introduction of the programme by Sh. Amal Kumar Gohane, CottonGold, Yavatmal. During the programme, farm machineries such as tractor, cotton chipper and rotavator purchased under the FPO scheme were inaugurated by Dr. K. Pandiyan, Scientist and Officer In-Charge, GTC and Sh. Jitendra Choudhari, Reliance Foundation, Ghatanji.

During his speech, Dr. K. Pandiyan, greeted the FPO and farmers for the receiving the machineries. He also explained in detail about the various avenues for value addition to the cotton biomasses with special emphasis on bioconversion of cotton stalks in to compost using microbial consortium. Dr. Choudhari stressed upon the adoption of new technologies for cultivation and diversification towards sustainable agriculture.  Also, the process for preparation of compost from cotton stalks using ICAR-CIRCOT microbial consortium were demonstrated to the farmers. Farmers were interacted with the team and got enlightened about various opportunities to increase their farm income through value-addition.
