Currently, whole brown rice is used to obtain rice protein, destroying the entire crop in the process. On the other hand, de-oiled rice bran (15-18% protein) is generated as a by-product of rice bran oil industry, which is a good source of protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Keeping in view the sustenance of rice bran ICAR-CIPHET has developed technology for preparation of rice bran protein. Research team comprises of Ms. Surya, Dr. D.N. Yadav & Dr. Rajeev Kapoor. M/s Hauch Ecovations Pvt. Ltd. Ludhiana approached ICAR-CIPHET for this technology. Dr. Renu Balakrishnan facilitated the licensing process. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director, CIPHET Ludhiana awarded certificate of licensing and agreement of the same to Ms. Poonam Sharma, Director of the firm and assured her that all possible help will extend further in their agribusiness venture
