Agriculture University have been selected for trainings at reputed International Institutions in the USA and Mexico. Ms. Priyanka and Ms.Kaldate Supriya will be getting training on ‘Advanced breeding and genomic techniques for characterizing and enhancing disease resistance in winter wheat’ at South Dakota State University, Brookings, U.S.A for two months. This training will help them to get acquainted with advanced breeding and genomic techniques which will be helpful to improve the plant traits to develop new varieties that are tolerant to heat, drought and disease with advanced precision and efficiency in shortest possible time. Mr. Vivek Singh will be getting one and a half month training on “Genetics and Breeding of Disease Resistance” at CIMMYT, El Batan, Mexico. He will learn various aspects related to pathogen variability, host plant resistance, candidate genes for resistance in plants useful in developing new varieties with enhanced precision and efficiency in the shortest possible time. The research scholars before leaving for the USA and Mexico met Prof H.K.Chaudhary, Vice Chancellor who congratulated them and said that studying genetics and breeding for disease resistance using various techniques would be helpful to develop new varieties with better performance. Dr.S.P.Dixit, Director Research; Dr. Ranbir Singh Rana, Principal Investigator Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
