Under the ‘Madhya Pradesh State Millet Mission Scheme’, 20 farmers from Dindori and Shahpura blocks visited ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur, on 19th February, 2024. The farmers were guided by Dr. Deepak Pawar, Scientist, Agricultural Biotechnology and Sh. S. K. Parey, Senior Technical Officer.

Beginning from the demonstrations of conservation agriculture fields, followed by the engineering workshop, the farmers visited organic farming fields, vermicomposting unit, FACE facility, containment facility, lysimeter unit, OTC chambers, aquatic weed tanks and ‘Technology Park’. The farmers also visited the ‘Information Centre’ of the Directorate, where they were informed about the major areas of research undertaken at the Directorate, its history, and weed management practices, including different cultural, mechanical, chemical and biological methods.

An interactive session of farmers was also organized, wherein Dr. P. K. Singh, Pr. Scientist, I/C PME and ITMU interacted with farmers on various aspects of weed management. He also gave detailed information about the research activities ongoing at the ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur and at All India Coordinated Project on Weed Management (AICRP) center’s across to county and how to manage weeds in crops so that farmers can get more benefits.
