To enhance soil health and promote sustainable agricultural practices and eco-friendly agriculture, ICAR-National Bureau of Agriculturally Useful Microorganisms (ICAR-NBAIM), Mau, Uttar Pradesh today 27.12.2023 organized a farmer training program named “Mitti Vandan”.

Inauguration of the program, Dr. S.C. Dubey, Assistant Director General (PP&B), ICAR. Appreciating the work done by the Bureau, Dr. Dubey stressed the importance of maintaining organic matter in the soil to promote microbial activities.


Dr. Alok Kumar Srivastava, Director, NBAIM stressed the need to educate farmers to reduce their dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. He urged for a shift towards nature-friendly farming with the help of microbial inoculants and formulations.

The program covered a wide variety of topics, including practical demonstrations of innovative agricultural techniques. Key attractions included demonstration of seed biopriming using microbial bioinoculants developed by NBAIM, demonstration of mushroom cultivation, complete process from preparation to cultivation and marketing of oyster mushroom and rapid decomposition of agricultural residues by decomposers.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan Singh, Principal Scientist, NBAIM, highlighted the intrinsic link between soil health and the well-being of the farming community and emphasized its link with nutritional security. Presentation of cultural program during the inaugural session added a lively touch to the event.

500 farmers actively participated in this informative program.
