A two-day (18 to 19 March) farmer training program related to Shree Anna was organized at Hawalbagh, the experimental field of ICAR-Vivekananda Research Institute of Mountain Agriculture (VPKAS), Almora. This training program was sponsored by the Agriculture Department, Badaun (Uttar Pradesh) under the National Food Security Mission, 2023- 24.

At the conclusion of the training program, the farmers were addressed by Dr. Laxmikant, Director of the Institute. He told about the importance of food crops in nutritional security. Along with this, the Director encouraged the farmers to increase the productivity by adopting advanced technology in its cultivation to meet the increasing demand of grain crops.

On this occasion, Chairman of Crop Improvement Department, Dr. N.K. Chairman of Hedau and Crop Production Department, Dr. B.M. Farmers were also addressed by Pandey.

Farmers were given training during the program on various aspects related to Shree Anna, such as advanced production technology, its contribution in nutritional security, preparation of value added products as well as post-harvest management etc. Apart from the production methods of food crops, farmers were also provided information about mushroom production, improved vegetable production and organic farming to increase their income.

Here, farmers shared their experiences and at the end of the program, certificates were given to the trainees by the Director.

30 male and female farmers from Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh participated in this training program.
