Background
ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad is proud to announce a training program on “Tools and techniques for risk management in crops” sponsored by NRM, ICAR, New Delhi. Various tools & techniques are available for crop production & protection to mitigate and manage the risks in crops. Monitoring of weather, soil-health assessment, use of DSS for pest incidence and crop insurance are various tools for risk management. Crop diversification, water management, adoption of multiple stress tolerant crop varieties, timely planting are common techniques of crop risk management. Combination of the tools and techniques will manage the risks and improve crop productivity.
Objectives
• To impart skills in various tools & techniques of risk management in crop production
• Introduction to various related knowledge products / software’s and mobile apps
• Crop and weather data analysis through statistical and process-based models & techniques
Course Content
Course will cover use of tools and techniques of crop production and crop protection, climate characterization, crop weather relationships, crop simulation models, use of R software, DSS for crop pest, Cropwat, DCWC, ingen, mobile apps, digital tools for drought/ IPM, statistical analysis tools and field exposure visits.
Eligibility
Scientists & Faculty from ICAR institutes, State Agricultural Universities, KVKs, and R&D Professionals. The applicants must have some understanding of data analytical tools and familiarity with basic computer skills. The maximum number of participants is 20.
Course fee
In case of Non-ICAR staff, a nominal fee of Rs.5,900 (Rs. 5000 + 18% GST) per head will be charged.
