ICAR-IVRI organized Kisan mela and input distribution program for tribal farmers of Naugawa Thago village in Khatima Block, Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand under TSP programme on 26 Feb., 2024. A total of 120 farmers (80 female) actively participated in kisan mela and exhibition was displayed reflecting technologies of ICAR-IVRI.


Under the input distribution programme, the twenty farmers (18 female) were given 6 weeks’
old chicks. Twenty-five birds were distributed to each tribal farmer, thus, total 500 chicks were distributed. Further, training manuals on backyard poultry farming were distributed to beneficiaries (20) who underwent training on scientific backyard poultry farming.

The farmers were briefed about various aspects of backyard poultry management under field conditions. The feeding and health care management in backyard poultry management was explained in detail again. The strength and opportunities of women in backyard poultry management was emphasized and how this backyard poultry farming can contribute in enhancing the livelihood and nutritional security of tribal. The programme was coordinated
by Dr Madan Singh, project investigator and assisted by Mr Veer Singh and Mr Suraj Singh.
