Regional Agricultural Research Station, Polasa, Jagtial organized field day in millet crops at adopted village Allipoor (V), Raikal (M), Jagtial (D) on 28.10.23.RARS, Jagtial encouraged farmers to cultivate millets as part of “International year of millets, 2023” by creating awareness on millet cultivation and by supplying millet seeds to farmers. Farmers cultivated millets like Jowar, Finger millet and Pearl millet in Kharif, 2023. Filed day was conducted in D. Venu, farmer field (Jowar and Finger millet) in order to showcase the crop and to encourage the other farmers in the village towards millet cultivation. The farmer practiced management practices as suggested by scientists of RARS, Jagtial and the crop is at good condition.


Farmer is satisfied with the crops and he is expecting good yields (8 q per cre). Farmer opined that cultivation of millets is beneficial when compared to the cultivation of paddy and maize crops. Dr. D.A. Rajini Devi, Scientist (Ag. Economics) briefed about the marketing opportunities available to millet crops. Y. Swathi, Scientist (Entomology) explained about the nutritional benefits of millet crops and post-harvest management practices. Later, visited mango fields and suggested management practices. In this programme, Dr. D. A. Rajini Devi, Scientist (Ag. Economics), i/c of adopted village, Y. Swathi, Scientist (Entomology) and nearly 36 farmers were participated.
