The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) signed its 22nd Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Mr Ripudaman Singh, Royal Sugarcane (India) Private Limited, Rajpura, Patiala, for the commercialization of sugarcane juice bottling technology. Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU; and Mr Ripudaman Singh signed the pact as per which the University has offered non-exclusive rights to the company for this technology.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, acknowledged the concerted efforts of Dr Poonam A. Sachdev, Principal Food Technologist and Principal Investigator of this technology, in sharing this technology with the farmer community of Punjab.

Dr Dhatt appreciated the scientist Dr Sachdev and the stakeholder Mr Ripudaman for the commercialization of this technology and exporting the product across the globe.

Sharing details, Dr Sachdev said, “Sugarcane juice is thermally processed to kill microorganisms and increase shelf life. Technology for shelf stable ready to serve bottled sugarcane juice gives completely healthy and hygienic product, which is prepared without any chemical preservatives, synthetic flavor, color and additives. It is industrially accepted technology.”

Dr Gursahib Singh Manes, Additional Director Research (Farm Mechanization and Bioenergy), and Dr Khushdeep Dharni, Associate Director, Technology Marketing IPR Cell, were also present at the MoA signing ceremony.
