ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal, organised “Breed Conservation Award 2023”, today on the occasion of “National Farmers Day” and felicitated animal breeders/farmers and institutions, across the country for their efforts in conserving the indigenous animal breeds.

The Chief Guest, Dr. G.K Gaur, Assistant Director General (AP&B), ICAR, congratulated all the winners for their outstanding efforts and complimented the efforts of NBAGR. Dr. Gaur urged them to create larger associations among all kinds of stakeholders in the country.

Dr. A.K Mohanty, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle, Meerut, said that the native livestock breeds are the country’s heritage.

Dr. Gyanendra Singh, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat & Barley Research, Karnal, congratulated the winners and said that the Bureau is striving to conserve the indigenous livestock biodiversity through involving various agencies and other stakeholders.

More than 40 applications from 15 states were awarded under Individual and Institutional categories.
