ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, participated in the India Climate and Development Partners Meet-2024 jointly organized by the Government of Goa and World Bank from 20th-21st February 2024 at Panaji, Goa. The government of Goa announced the creation of India’s first blended financing facility, in partnership with the World Bank, to facilitate climate-resilient and low-carbon investments.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, emphasized the importance of resilience in achieving a balanced vision for the state’s development, well-being, ecosystem health, and economy. The Minister suggested promoting agro-techniques like integrated farming systems, salt-tolerant crop varieties, and sustainable agro-ecotourism through blended financing facilities for enhancing coastal resilience.

Shri. Aleixo Sequeira, Goa’s Minister for Environment and Climate Change, highlighted biodiversity, natural resource conservation, carbon sequestration, GHG reduction, diversified cropping, and indigenous traditional knowledge for climate change adaptations.

Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, was present during the programme.

More than 200 delegates from India and abroad participated in this meeting.
