World Veterinary Day was observed by ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Mukteswar on 26th April 2024 with the theme of “Veterinarians are Essential Health Workers. On this occasion, a scientist-farmers interaction was held in the auditorium of the campus. Faculties, scientific staff, research fellows, students of the campus, and nearly one hundred farmers from the Darmoli and Pitholi villages of Nainital District participated in the interaction with high fervor and interest. Dr. Yashpal Singh Malik, Joint Director of the campus graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and expressed his views on the important roles played by the veterinary doctors and ICAR-IVRI Mukteswar Campus in maintaining and furthering animal and human health. Dr. Bimalendu Mondal (Head of the Virology Division), Dr. Indrasen Chauhan (Head of the TAH Division), and Dr. Sher Singh (Pr. Scientist) graced the occasion as guests of honor and motivated the participants to participate regularly in the veterinary and animal husbandry programs and to think of taking veterinary profession as a promising career option for the young generation.

Dr. Vishal Chandra (Sr. Scientist) enlightened the gathering about the promising prospects, opportunities, and frontier areas of the veterinary profession in India and abroad. Following the address, an interactive session was carried out among the scientists and the farmers about modern veterinary services and their importance in animal and public health. While the participants shared their experiences of working with the extension and veterinary service programs of ICAR-IVRI Mukteswar Campus, the Gram Pradhan expressed his gratitude for the invitation of the framers to the celebration and the regular services extended by IVRI Mukteswar Campus to the farmers. At the end of the discussion various animal husbandry-related articles were distributed to the farmers as input along with related extension literature. The overall program was coordinated by Dr. Amol Gurav (Charge extension Education Section) and Dr. Nitish Singh Kharayat (Scientist). Among the others, Dr. Karam Chand (Sr. Scientist), Dr. Amir Kumar Samal (Scientist, SS), Dr. Sidharth Gautam (Scientist, SS), Dr Amit Kumar (Scientist, SS), Dr. Deepika Bisht (Scientist), and Dr. Ashutosh Fular (Scientist) were present as organizers of the occasion. In the end, Dr. Nitish
Singh Kharayat (Scientist) expressed the vote of thanks.
