On the occasion of World Veterinary day with the aim to mark importance of veterinarians, under the theme “Veterinarians are essential health workers”, awareness programs on common zoonotic diseases in India were organized. The staff and students of Veterinary Public Health Division, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, in collaboration with Rotary club, Izatnagar conducted awareness programs at G. D. Goenka Public School and Central Avian Research Institute, Bareilly on April 27th, 2024.

Team was led by Dr. Himani Dhanze, Scientist(SS), VPH division and Dr. D.C Shukla, executive secretary, Rotary club, Izatnagar. About one billion cases of illness and millions of death occur every year from zoonotic diseases globally. Dr. Himani Dhanze delivered seminar on ‘Zoonotic diseases in India: Community engagement for prevention and control’ to create awareness among students as well as general public. Quiz competition on zoonoses was also conducted at G.D. Goenka Public School, Bareilly and prizes were distributed among the students. Students and general public gained plenty of knowledge on zoonoses through our awareness programs with a total of 100 beneficiaries.
