During this camp, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) shared detailed information about the importance of soil and water testing and sampling method before vegetable cultivation. Dr. BS Sekhon, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) shared information about the importance and future of capsicum and chari pepper production in Mansa district. Along with this, those farmers were told about the recommended varieties of chari pepper CH-52 and CH-27 and capsicum type PSM-1 by the university and said that these varieties give more yield and are resistant to thuthi disease. He advised the farmers to select right varieties of fodder and capsicum early and for higher yield, to sow paneer on time and adopt cultivation techniques recommended by the university. He said that in Mansa district, the problem of powdery mildew and plant wilting is very common, so farmers should give preference to varieties resistant to powdery mildew and use proper water to prevent plant wilting. is Attacks can be prevented by proper dosage and proper selection of spray fungicides. Eng Alok Gupta, Assistant Professor (Soil and Water Eng) enlightened the farmers about the cultivation of vegetables using the drip method, saying that while the yield increases with this method, water and fertilizer are also saved. During the camp, progressive farmers Balwinder Singh Bhari Mansa, Manjit Singh Ghargana, Manjit Singh Chuhri, Jaspal Singh Chuhri and Dilpreet Singh Jatana shared their views. About twenty five vegetable farmers from different villages of Mansa district participated in the training camp. At the end of the training, the farmers were also provided seeds of advanced pepper varieties CH-52, CH-27 and capsicum variety PSM-1.
