In an effort to enhance nutrition security and economic empowerment among rural women, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Fatehgarh Sahib, organized an exposure visit to the Poultry Research Farm at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana. This initiative, conducted under the project ‘Nutrition Security and Economic Empowerment of Rural Women through Backyard Poultry in Fatehgarh Sahib District,’ was sponsored by NABARD.

Led by Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training) at KVK Fatehgarh Sahib, the visit aimed to provide invaluable insights into poultry farming. Dr Prem Parkash Dubey, Scientist at the Poultry Research Farm, facilitated the visit and discussed the economic benefits of backyard poultry farming. Emphasis was placed on the significance of vaccination, proper feeding practices, disease prevention measures, and effective marketing strategies for poultry products.

Dr Guranshpreet Singh Sethi, Assistant Professor (Home Science), and Dr Manisha Bhatia, Assistant Professor (Home Science), actively engaged with participants, addressing their queries and providing further clarity on poultry farming techniques.

The event concluded with gratitude extended to the scientists at the Poultry Research Farm for their informative session, which promises to empower rural women with the necessary knowledge and skills for successful poultry farming endeavor’s.
