According to the guidelines of Director Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sri Muktsar Sahib organized an awareness camp on proper management of paddy stubble at village Singhewala on October 17, 2023, in which the progressive farmers of the village Heroes participated in large numbers.

During this camp Dr. Karamjit Sharma, Associate Director, K.V.K. Muktsar shared information about the adverse effects of burning stubble in fields on environment, health and land. He enlightened the farmers about the various techniques developed by the Punjab Agricultural University for the maintenance of paddy stubble. He said that the use of these technologies reduces the cost of field preparation, which increases the net income of the farmer. In the meantime, he took care of the stubble at KVK. Also mentioned various activities done by Muktsar. Apart from this, they also encouraged the farmers to take up agricultural as well as ancillary activities.

During this camp Dr. Vivek Kumar, Assistant Professor (Crop Science) shared detailed information about successful cultivation of wheat in stubble fields. Apart from this, he also gave information about the use and maintenance of the machines used for the maintenance of paddy straw. Mentioning the benefits of stubble conservation in the fields, he said that it improves the physical properties of the land and also reduces the impact of bad water on the crop.

Dr. Gurmail Singh Sandhu, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) while giving information about the life cycle, spread, damage and early prevention of insects on wheat sown in stubble fields, said that for the prevention of wheat borer, the survey of borer in paddy should be carried out. And it is necessary to prevent it. He shared information with the farmers about the prevention of rats in stubble fields.

Dr. Vivek Sharma, Assistant Professor (Veterinary Science) gave information on the problem of frequent re-infection of animals and shared information about the symptoms of Hehe and the correct timing of vaccination to the livestock keepers. He also shared with the farmer heroes about the feeding of cattle and newborns. Apart from this, they also shared information about diseases in animals and about vaccination.

At the end of the camp, Madam Charanjit Kaur, Home Vigyan thanked the farmers who came to the camp. Farmers participating in the camp asked a lot of questions regarding stubble management and other agricultural issues and were answered on the spot by the experts.
