To commemorate the World Intellectual Property Day, as per the information from Under Secretary, IP&TM, New Delhi with the theme “Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity”, the World IP Day celebration was conducted at ICAR- Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru on 26th April 2023 under the chairmanship of Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR. Dr B L Manjunath, Nodal Officer ITMU welcomed the Chairman, Invited Speaker and all the scientific, technical and administrative staff and the students to the program.

Dr Sudha Mysore, Former CEO Agrinnovate India Ltd. & Retired Principal Scientist, ICAR-IIHR as the resource person elaborated about World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), its significance, genesis, journey so far of IPR and trade mark policies in the developing world to the audience. She also stressed on the requirement for creating awareness among women scientists and entrepreneurs for bridging the gender inequality in IP by revealing the statistics and global scenario.

Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, in his address, mentioned that though India and in particular ICAR is galloping fast towards gender equality in science and entrepreneurship, more women should grace leadership positions to make this dream a reality.

Dr G Sangeetha G, Member ITMU proposed the vote of thanks. The event was attended by the scientific, technical and administrative staff of the main campus and online through zoom link by the staff of Regional stations under ICAR-IIHR, KVK, Hirehalli and KVK, Gonikoppal and by the students.
