The success of PAU’s surface seeder technology was witnessed by a senior delegation led by Sh Ajit Balaji Joshi, Secretary of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, during their visit to a 1.5-acre surface seeder sown wheat field of S Gurwinder Singh in Gaggarwal village, Fatehgarh Sahib on February 8, 2024. The delegation included Sh Jaswant Singh, Director of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, and other dignitaries, such as Sh Jagdish Singh, Sh Arun Kumar, Sh Ashok Kumar, Sh Sandeep Kumar, Sh Gurmel Singh, and Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director, KVK Fatehgarh Sahib.

The purpose of the visit was to observe and upscale the adoption of the new technology for wheat crop sowing using the surface seeder. The crop’s condition was excellent, with a healthy stand and minimal incidence of disease and weeds. S Gurwinder Singh and fellow farmers shared their positive experiences with the surface seeder machine.

Officials and farmers alike expressed satisfaction with the surface seeder’s performance, highlighting its effectiveness in enhancing crop productivity and reducing labour requirements.
