DAATTC-ARS, Tandur organized field day on ”Integrated Crop Management” in High Density Planting System in Cotton under special project on cotton, ICAR-CICR titled “Targeting technologies to agro-ecological zones-large scale demonstration of best practices to enhance cotton productivity” under NFSM 2023 at P.B. Ramulu field in Chitalpally (vil), Pudur (Mandal), Vikarabad district on 02.11.2023.Dr. B. Venkatesh (YP-II) welcomes the farmers & guests. Mr. T. Laxman, Coordinator, DAATTC, Tandur explained about the objectives of the Project & the activities taken up under HDPS cotton in Pudur and Parigi divisions of Vikarabad district. Mentioned about suitable soils (Light chelka soils) for high density. He suggested the farming community that there is much need to increase the yields of cotton, for which farmers must follow the new technologies and management practices. He also explained about the spacing’s to be followed in HDPS cotton and explained that under HDPS cotton the plant height has to be restricted by spraying the growth regulators (Mepiquate chloride). He also explained the importance and advantage of the HDPS cotton and the crop can be harvested by December end then the farmer can go for sowing of green gram or black gram crops by January 2nd fortnight.. Dr. B. Venkatesh, (YP-II) explained about the precise nutrient, water and weed management practices in HDPS cotton. Smt. C. Yamuna, Scientist (Pathology), DAATTC, Tandur given overview on the sucking pest management in HDPS cotton and how farmers can escape from pink bollworm attack by HDPS cotton. Explained different disease symptoms with suitable chemical and integrated management practices at correct time for higher yields in HDPS cotton. Showed way of installation of Pheromone traps in fields and it’s role in identification of pest incidence in HDPS cotton. Rasi Seeds Territory Sales Manager, Sri. Nageswar Rao pointed about suitable varieties and hybrids characters for HDPS cotton. In interaction session farmers asked some doubts, scientist given suitable solutions to their field level problems. Then went to the PB. Ramulu HDPS cotton field, and explained the farmers regarding Rasi swift variety and how to maintain the spacing under HDPS. Later pheromone traps were also distributed for the HDPS cotton farmers. Finally Smt. C. Yamuna, Scientist, DAATTC, Tandur gave the Vote of Thanks to the farmers, Scientist, Agriculture department officers and print & Electronic media for the success of field day.
