In this occasion, P. Laxman Rao, Assistant Professor, gave the brief history regarding how world soil day celebrations was started. Chief guest of occasion Dr. M. A. AARIFF KHAN, Sr. Professor (Soil Science), PJTSAU, Retd., delivered key note massage of the Celebration theme- Soil, water : a source of life and explained the conservation practices to improving the soil organic matter and using the organic manures, agroforestry, integrated nutrient management, soil test based fertilizer recommendation etc. to maintain soil health and after that he gave the solutions for the questions asked by farmers like reclamation of problematic soils. Dr. G. Manoj Kumar, Associate Dean College of Agricultural Engineering, Kandi, Sangareddy who presided the celebration emphasized the need for integrate soil/crop management practices for soil Health and suitable crop production. Dr. Vaidya Nath, DAO (in-charge) Sangareddy who was a invited guest in discussion with farmers about Govt. support schemes promotional adenitis for restoring soil health and suitable crop production and he gave information regarding the soil testing labs present at Sangareddy. Smt. Laxmi – Manager, SBI who was a special guest dealt in length about the various schemes and crop loans of SBI – for the service of farmers. Adopted village farmers, students, teaching and non teaching faculty, Agricultural officers, AEO’s, ATM & BTM of Sangareddy also participated in the Celebration. Prizes was distributed to the winners from students – CAE Sangareddy out of Elocution, Essay writing, slogans, painting on this occasion. About 80 farmers/students participated in the programme and was conducted on a successful note. Sri Mohan Reddy – farmer from KASHIPUR explained in brief the essence of world soil day theme and practical approaches to maintain Soil Health – need of the hour more so in view of climate change.
