ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, organised a Capacity-building-cum-Awareness and Fishery-input distribution programme for the skill development of Scheduled Caste fish farmers under the SCSP component today in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Masodha under Acharya Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya.

 The Chief Guest, Dr. Bijendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of ANDUAT, encouraged the farmers to augment their livelihood through backyard ornamental fish farming.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. U. K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, urged the fish farmers to generate income through ornamental fish culture, improved scientific fish farming, and the conservation of regional fish biodiversity through a participatory approach.

The programme emphasized sustainable fisheries resource utilization, ornamental fish culture, and scientific fish farming practices in the face of changing climatic conditions. Experts delivered lectures and demonstrations on improved fish farming, disease management, and antimicrobial resistance. The program provided beneficiaries with fishery inputs such as ornamental fish, glass aquariums, fish feed, medicines, and ice boxes.

A total of 50 fish farmers of the SC community attended the programme.
