Dr. Rukmini Devi, Principal Scientist (Pulses), Madhira has visited ARS, DAATTC and APT Tornala on 04-10-2023 for the purpose of reviewing technical programme of pulses and to monitor the seed production of greengram, blackgram and redgram crops. At the outset, Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Tornala has explained about the rainfall pattern, soil fertility status, cropping systems of Siddipet region. Later, Dr. Rukmini Devi, PS (Pulses) suggested best management practices to be followed to get higher yields in seed production plots of pulses and she also interacted with students of APT, Tornala regarding different varieties in each crop of pulses and management practices especially nipping process through practical mode to get more side branches there by higher yields in redgram crop. Followed by, minikits of Black gram (MBG- 1080) Vs check (PU-31) and green gram (MGG-389) Vs Check (MGG-351) were distributed to the farmers of Ankshapur and Mundrai villages of Siddipet district on the hands of Dr. Rukmini Devi, PS (Pulses) & Head, ARS, Madhira. Later, Dr. Rukmini Devi, PS (Pulses) & Head has explained about the importance of minikits, regular visits of scientists to the demonstration sites and feedback required from the beneficiary farmers which helps the scientists to fine tune the same before releasing the varieties. Further, she has explained about the characteristic features of minikit varieties of both black gram and green gram and all the scientists of ARS & DAATTC, Tornala were participated in the programme.
