Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Udaipur and KED Foundation Udaipur, in various villages of Jhadol-Falasia block of Udaipur district (Ghodimar, Manpur, Mighana Turangarh, Amod, Semla, Siwana, Karani Valley) Under a five-day program, an educational tour and a three-day training program was organized for 24 tribal farmers (12 women and 12 men) of Jabla Tumbar, Dolariya and Amiwada etc. and concluded on March 18, 2024 at 5 pm in the auditorium of the institute. The tribal farmers who came to the institute participated in a three day training program on various aspects of improved rabbit husbandry. During the three day training programme, various aspects like breed improvement, animal nutrition, animal health, fodder management and other weather based management were discussed. Detailed lectures were given by various subject expert scientists and technical officers.

Addressing the program, Director Dr. Arun Kumar Tomar stressed on the tribal farmers to adopt integrated farming and animal husbandry so that the farmers can continue to earn income throughout the year. At present, tribal farmers can double their income only by adopting new technologies. On the occasion of completion of the training, certificates of completion of training were distributed to all the tribal farmers involved in the training in the presence of the Director. Along with this, animal husbandry and farming are also useful. Distribution of goods (rabbit, sheep and goat rearing calendar, hybrid seeds, bag, file, steel bucket, scythe, water bottle, wall clock, box etc.) for improving their daily life in the presence of Director and scientists of Avikanagar.

In the closing program of tribal farmers, department head Dr. Randhir Singh Bhatt, Dr. Ganesh Ji Sonawane, Dr. Ramesh Chand Sharma, Dr. CP Swarnkar, Dr. Satyaveer Singh Dagi, Dr. DK Sharma, Dr. Amarsingh Meena accompanied the farmers on various points of sheep rearing.
