Babu Jagjiva Ram Agricultural College, Sircilla has organized one day ‘Fertiliser orientation programme’ on 23rd of August,2023. This program was conducted by the Fertilizer Association of India in collaboration with BJR Agricultural College, PJTSAU at College auditorium. The inaugural session was presided by Sri.G.V.Subha Reddy, Vice- President (Mktg), Coromandel International Ltd. Dr. P. C. Rao, Formerly Dean of Agriculture, PJTSAU. Hyderabad delivered the key note address while Dr.G.Padmaja, Director- Polytechnics, PJTSAU and Shri G. Muneendar, President, Telangana state fertilizer dealers association were guests of honour. Dr.M.Shanti, professor (Soil Science) welcomed the guests. The session was chaired by Shri Y.V.N. Murthy, Regional Head, FAI – Southern Region, Chennai. In his key note address Dr.P.C.Rao emphasized the increasing pressure on agricultural land to produce more with fewer inputs and he also reiterated on need of safeguarding the soil health under optimum use of fertilizers. Dr. T. Uma Maheswari, Associate Dean, BJR Agricultural College, Sircilla, also highlighted on need to adopt INM and IPM practices. The scenario of fertilizer use in the country, new formulations in fertilizers, repercussions of injudicious fertilizer use on soils and environment, policy matters and legalities were thoroughly discussed through several speakers from a gamut of fertilizer companies for the benefit of students. The students interacted with the speakers on issues of fertilizer licensing and placement opportunities.
