ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), RRS, Jaisalmer organized one day training programme on “Scope and importance of millets in western Rajasthan” on 21.02.2023 in the context of International year of Millets 2023 under SCSP scheme. Forty-five farmers from Basanpeer village participated and benefited from this training programme. Dr. Anil Patidar welcomed the farmers and briefed them about the importance of this training programme. He also delivered a lecture on the scope and importance of Kodo millet. In continuation of his lecture, Dr. Abhishek Kumar stressed on importance and health benefits of millets and their consumption. Dr. S.C. Meena discussed the integrated pest management of millets with special emphasis on cultural and biological methods.

Dr. Saranya R. explained about integrated disease management of millets and specifically discussed downy mildew, ergot, smut, and rust diseases of millets. Dr. Dileep Kumar Dangi emphasized the scope and importance of finger millet and gave a vote of thanks. Farmers were very much curious to see the seeds of different millets. Farmers were also visited to nursery and experimental trial. Farmers were showing interest in growing these millet crops in their fields and to include in their diet. This programme was coordinated by Dr. Dileep Kumar and Dr. Anil Patidar. Dr. S. C. Meena, Dr. Saranya R., and Sh.Abhishek Kumar.
