Training on ‘Natural Farming of Seaweeds’ Organized by Mandapam Regional Centre of ICAR-CMFRI

In connection with the campaign on Annadata Devo Bhava” under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Mandapam Regional Centre of the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) organised a training programme on ‘Natural Farming of Seaweeds’ on 23rd April, 2022. A total of 135, including fishermen and the staff participated the programme.Dr. G. Tamilmani, Senior Scientist & Head-in-Charge presided over the programme and delivered a talk on importance of natural farming of seaweeds. Later, Dr. Johnson, B., Senior Scientist, provided the knowledge on seaweed farming techniques & integrated multi-trophic aquaculture through presentation. Awareness on government schemes related to seaweed farming under PMMSY was also given. A video on seaweed farming techniques & IMTA prepared by Mandapam Regional Centre was also screened to provide first-hand field knowledge about the technology. The hands-on training on seaweed farming techniques was also given at seaweed farm, Munaikadu.
