Pantnagar. On 26 December 2023, training on the topic ‘Natural Farming’ was organized by the institute. On the occasion of the inauguration of the training, Director Extension Education and Sameti – Uttarakhand, Dr. Jitendra Kwatra told the participants that considering the current situation of agriculture, natural farming can prove to be a boon. Due to unplanned use of agricultural protection chemicals and chemical fertilizers in agriculture, the fertility of soil is decreasing year by year. Along with humans, animals and other living beings are also being affected by its adverse effects. Certainly its alternative could be natural farming. He said that the Honorable Prime Minister also keeps calling for expanding this genre in the entire country. Professor (Agronomy) and Sameti Coordinator Dr. B.D. On the inaugural occasion of the training, Singh welcomed Director Sameti and the present participants and also outlined the various programs and trainings conducted by Sameti. He told that during the training, the scientists of the university discussed about natural farming – introduction and importance, natural farming – problems and solutions, importance of natural farming in the changing environment, soil health and crop protection in natural farming, soil health in natural farming. Demonstration of methods of making inputs to be used, demonstration of methods of making inputs used for crop protection in natural farming, methods of using inputs in different crops under natural farming, research work going on in the university on natural farming. Demonstration, cattle management in natural farming, discussion and solutions with the participants from Uttarakhand about natural farming, traditional farming techniques and natural farming and lectures on scientific farming of coarse grains were given. In the training program, Dr. Sunita T. Pandey, Professor, Dr. S.P.S. Many subject experts including Beniwal conducted lectures and practical demonstrations. Farmers from districts Pauri Garhwal, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Almora participated in the training program. In editing the training programme, Jyoti Kanwal, Young Professional – II and Mr. Jagdish Chandra Bisht had special contribution.
