AIMS & OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE
Sustainable agriculture and rural development are integral and necessary components of sustainable development. It includes improving farmers’ livelihoods, reducing poverty, promoting environmental conservation, ensuring food security, enhancing rural infrastructure and fostering equitable distribution of resources and opportunities. These goals seek to create a balance between economic growth and social well-being in the context of agricultural practices.
The conference aims at creating the platform at National level for innovative ideas and approaches to frame policy and research that encourage further collaborations across multiple time zones. It is need of hour to establish an exchange forum at the National level to identify and discuss issues across a range of disciplines, supporting and nurturing the next generation of social science researchers. To engage national and diverse voices, ideas, visions, and initiatives beyond borders. To strengthen global efforts and make the agrarian society sustainable for the socio-economic upliftment of society at large.
ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University popularly known as HAU, is one of Asia’s biggest agricultural universities, located at Hisar in the Indian state of Haryana. From 31st October, 1991 it has been renamed after India’s seventh Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh. It is a leader in agricultural research in India and contributed significantly to Green Revolution and White Revolution during 1960s and 70s. It has a very large campus and has several research centres throughout the state. University is spread over an area of 7219 acres at Hisar and 1426 acres at outstations. During its existence so far it has made rapid progress in building an excellent infrastructure. The University has also signed 533 National and international MoUs for research, education and other activities. So far, the University has received 17 patents, 5 copyrights and 2 designs. In recognition of its excellence in education and research CCSHAU has been conferred with several awards at the national and international level. Among these prominent ones are the “Best Institution Award” by ICAR in 1996-97 and 2016-17 and recently secured top position in “Atal Ranking” among different SAUS of the country.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE & DEPARTMENT
The College of Basic Sciences and Humanities caters to the needs of Basic Science subjects, Languages and Social Sciences to the students at UG level of different colleges besides offering M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in various disciplines. The Department of Sociology came into existence in 1970 as a constituent department of College of Basic Sciences and Humanities. Since 1970 the department has been fast developing to achieve excellence in teaching, research and extension. The faculty of Sociology is recipient of many prestigious national awards and is extensively involved in externally funded projects.
