KVK, Palem organized Field day on ‘High-Density Planting System (HDPS)’ cum World cotton day celebrations at Gudlanarva village, Bijinepally mandal, Nagarkurnool dist. on 07.10.2023. A field day on High Density Planting System (HDPS) has organized in Sri. Kashanna’s field at Gudlanarva village and celebrated the World Cotton Day with the farmers and introduced the technology to the farmers who are practicing normal planting. The programme was chaired by Dr. M. Malla Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Palem, and addressed the gathering on the importance of High-Density Planting System technology, future vision, mechanization, and role of women in agriculture.
Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator highlighted the main objectives of the special project on HDPS, better management practices to be followed, canopy management at the right stages of the crop for better boll retention. Smt. Prashanthi, Nodal officer, PRDIS, Hyderabad emphasized the significance of ‘World Cotton Day’ and encouraged the farmers for sustainable agriculture to achieve better quality, yield, and price. Dr. B. Rajashekar, SMS (Agril. Extn) interacted with the farmers and explained the market intelligence and community action in implementing the new technology. Dr. O. Shaila SMS (PP) highlighted the Integrated Pest and Disease Management in cotton and ETL based chemical sprays. Sri. Narsimhulu, AGM, Nuziveedu Pvt. Ltd. highlighted the best suited cotton varieties for High Density Planting System. B. Supriya, Women farmer expressed her views on technology, mechanization for hazel free harvesting and clean harvest for ginning process. All the Young Professionals of KVK, Palem actively interacted with the farmers and advisories were given. Further, visited Sri. Kashanna’s field where discussed about the advantages of HDPS demonstration over the normal practice. In this program Dr. M. Malla Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Palem,, Dr. T. Raghuvaran Singh (YP II), R. Gouthami, P. Venkatesh, M. Rajesh Kumar, B. Harish, V. Pushpalatha (YP I), KVK, Plaem and 82 farmers from Gudlanarva, Velkicherla, Mulgara villages, a Total of 124 members were participated.
