International women day was celebrated at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh on 08 March 2021. About 27 women farmers from Ivnagar village, Junagadh dist. participated in the programme. The programme started at 03:00 pm by an introduction and a short speech by Dr Sushmita S, Scientist, emphasizing the significance of ‘International Women’s Day’ and the importance of women in every walk of life. Dr. AL Singh (Director, DGR) gave the introductory remarks and highlighted the role of women in agriculture and farm sectors, mentioned the role of women and their contribution in society and need for their empowerment and gender equality. This year theme was “International Women’s Day: Women Leadership in Agriculture: Entrepreneurship, Equality & Empowerment”. Sh. PV Zala (CTO) highlighted the achievements of women in different sectors of the country. Smt. Vidya Choudhary (CTO) gave the vote of thanks. Farm kit distribution was done at the end of the programme.
