ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai organized an interactive meeting with the officials of International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), Washington DC, USA at the Institute on 22nd August 2023. The ICAC was represented by Mr. Eric Trachtenberg, Executive Director and Dr. K. R. Kranti, Chief Scientist.
The ICAC is an association of members of cotton producing, consuming and trading countries with a mission to serve the cotton and textile community through promotion, knowledge sharing, innovation, partnerships and providing a forum for discussion of cotton issues of international significance.
Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director of the Institute welcomed the officials and presented the contribution of ICAR-CIRCOT to the cotton stakeholders. Mr. Eric Trachtenberg congratulated the Institute for carrying out cutting-edge research in the field of Cotton and invited the scientists of the Institute to collaborate in various activities of ICAC. Dr. K. R. Kranti elaborated about ICAC’s vision for prosperity through cotton industry and its activities across the globe. Discussion was also held regarding organization of the upcoming ‘Ninth Asian Cotton Research and Development Network (ACRDN) Meeting & International Conference’ scheduled for December 6 – 8, 2023 at the Institute.
Dr. A. J. Shaikh, former Director of the Institute, Dr. Sandhya Kranthi, Former Consultant, ICAC, Scientists and Technical Officers of the Institute were present in this meeting. The delegates visited the research facilities of the Institute.
