An Institute Advisory committee meeting under Farmer FIRST project was organised on 25th August, 2023 at CRIDA, under the chairmanship of Dr V K Singh, Director, CRIDA. IAC constituted with objective of monitoring the progress of interventions and output of the project.

Dr G Nirmala, PI of project had presented the achievements (2022-23) and action plan (2023-24) of various technological interventions in Soil and water conservation, crops and cropping systems, Livestock, horticulture and training and exposure visits of project implemented in Vikarabad District of Telangana State. Later, all member of committee offered suggestions: Smt U Kamala, Horticulture officer, suggestions on micro irrigation system and use of drought prone vegetables; Sri M. Tulasiram, Agricultural officer, added that value addition of pulses with dhal mill and oilseed through cold press oils extraction is necessary and Dr P Prahalad, Veterinary officer, mentioned to use caged shelter for backyard poultry and AI for breed improvement. Dr A R Reddy, Nodal officer FFP, ATARI suggested to document farm innovations and assess impact of technology assemblage in adopted villages. Dr K V Rao, Head, DRM suggested to prepare matrix of technologies received by each farmer and then conduct an impact assessment study. Dr SK Bal, PC, ACRPAM suggested changes in agro-advisory services provided to farmers. Scientists in Charge, SDA, Dr BMK Raju made suggestions on methodology to be followed for conducting impact studies. Dr K Ravi Shankar, SIC-TOT provided inputs on further improvement of project. Dr M Vanaja, In-charge Head, DCS, emphasized need for value addition of commodities for fetching good price of produce. The meeting was concluded with Dr V K Singh, Director and Chairman’s closing remarks who emphasized need for digital agriculture and documentation of success stories and also the need for conducting impact assessment as the project has been implemented since many years.

All scientists and CO PI: Drs B Sanjeev Reddy, PK Pankaj, A Gopal Krishna Reddy, Boini Narsimulu, K Ravi Shankar, Jagriti Rohit and Anshida Beevi had participated in the meeting. Lastly, Dr Anshida Beevi, Scientist (Agrl Extension) presented vote of thanks to the Chair and members of Committee.
