The ICAR-sponsored 10-day Short Course on ‘Advances in Applications of Nanotechnology in Agriculture,’ from January 29 to February 8, 2024, was inaugurated on January 29, 2024.

Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director of ICAR-CIRCOT, commended the diverse participation from various fields of agriculture and allied sciences in attending the nanotechnology short course during his inaugural address. He emphasized the pivotal role that the Institute plays in the cotton and textile sector both in India and internationally, contributing significantly to the advancement of technology and practices throughout the entire cotton value chain. Dr. Shukla highlighted the Institute’s distinction as the sole entity globally focused on concentrated research in cotton ginning.

Furthermore, Dr. Shukla extended congratulations to the core team for their efforts in organizing the nanotechnology short course. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Principal Scientist and Course Director, provided the trainees with insights into the Institute’s extensive experience and expertise in nanotechnology over the past two decades. He also shared information about the ongoing efforts to disseminate this knowledge to stakeholders through training programme.

The occasion was graced by Dr. Sujata Saxena, Head of CBPD; Dr. N. Shanmugam, Head of MPD; and Dr. A.S.M. Raja, Head of QEID, along with other scientists from the Institute. In total, 19 participants are attending this short course, of whom ten are female. Participants are from a multidisciplinary background representing various regions across the country.
