International Women’s Day- 2023 was celebrated at ICAR- Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha by organizing different programmes for one week i.e. from 1st March to 8th March 2023 on the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”. On Day 1, Plantation Programme was organized in ICAR-CIWA farm. Day 2 witnessed a spectacular Group Discussion on the theme “Gender balance is not solely a women’s issue, but also an economic issue” wherein seven Principal Scientists of the Institute were in the Discussion panel. A colourful Rangoli Festival was the major attraction of the celebration in which both colours and flowers were used for rangoli making. Besides this, creative writings like poems, slogans, quotes etc was also arranged. On 7th of March 2023, the final celebration of International Women’s Day was held. During this programme Dr Anil Kumar, I/C Director, ICAR-CIWA highlighted the importance of the women in the society and their issues. He informed the audience about the endeavors of ICAR-CIWA in empowering women in agriculture. A motivational talk was delivered by Brahma Kumari Durgesh Nandini and her team. She held a session on meditation for maintaining mental health.
All staff of the Institute enthusiastically participated in all the activities. The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr Laxmi Priya Sahoo, Dr Tania Seth and Dr Arpita Mohapatra.
