ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIBA) celebrated the country’s 77th Independence Day by unfurling the National Flag at the Main Campus, Field and Regional Centres with full respect and honour. Dr.Kuldeep K Lal hoisted the National Flag at the headquarters. In his Independence Day speech, he conveyed his wishes to all and outlined importance of keeping the stakeholders needs in mind while planning the research and development activities. Engaging the stakeholders in our research as partners for technology validation and refinement at the field level that would make our technologies need based he added. Private-public partnership in R&D is the focus in the day to come and sourcing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from the corporate firms for the technology-led societal development is important he highlighted. Adequate planning is required to collect both baseline and interventional data while taking up technology validation and demonstration at community level he underlined. He asked the scientists to publish their research findings in suitable journals so that fellow workers and others make note of it and site our publications.

Dr.S.Kannappan, Principal Scientist & OIC, Muttukadu Experimental Station, Dr.Debasis De, Head of Kakdwip Regional Centre of CIBA and Mr. Pankaj Patil, Officer-in-Charge, Navasari-Gujarat Regional Centre of CIBA unfurled the national flag at their respective office premises and celebrated the Independence Day with the families of the staff.

ICAR-CIBA conducted “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign for the school students and families of coastal villages.

ICAR-CIBA conducted the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign as part of Country’s Independence Day celebrations at the premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Island grounds, Chennai and at Kolathur village in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu. This campaign was organized from 13th August 2023 to 15th August 2023. On 14th August 2023, CIBA team distributed the tricolor flags to the above school students and a rally wherein the students’ holding the national flag was conducted in the school premises. This programme was well attended by 221 students and teachers. Shri Srinivasan Krishnasamy, the Principal of the school welcomed the gathering and appreciated the initiative of ICAR-CIBA. CIBA team briefed up the idea behind this initiative and invoked the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the students to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag and explained the purpose of the campaign. Dr. (Mrs.) D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist gave a career guidance by explaining the higher studies options for the students and career opportunities available in Fisheries and Aquaculture sector. At Kolathur village about 90 coastal families participated in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign. National flags were distributed to the participants to hoist it at their home. During the occasion, the scientists explained about the CIBA’s technologies like nursery rearing and cage culture of Asian Seabass, Mudcrab fattening for the livelihood development of coastal families. Dr. (Mrs.) D. Deboral Vimala, Principal Scientist and Dr.T.Bhuvaneswari, Senior Scientist coordinated the events respectively at Chennai and Kolathur villages with a team of scientists and staff.
