ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, organised a 1-day training programme today on Ornamental Fish culture in association with NABARD.

 

Dr. A. Raizada, Director-in-charge, ICAR-CCARI, emphasised the importance of Fisheries and Aquaculture for entrepreneurship and livelihood promotion and for providing food and nutrition security. He highlighted the importance of ornamental fish culture in Goa for livelihood and revenue generation.

 

ICAR-CCARI is focusing on conserving indigenous ornamental fishes in Goa by developing breeding protocols for selected species. Experts delivered lectures on various aspects of ornamental fish culture during the event. The training involved demonstrating aquarium tank fabrication, aqua scraping, ornamental fish feed preparation, larval rearing, and induced breeding technology for indigenous ornamental fishes, while participants were exposed to the Institute’s aquarium complex and aquaculture farm.

A total of 15 trainees (including 10 women) from Goa attended the training programme.
