A Farmers’ Field day-cum Input Distribution program was organized for Scheduled caste farmers on 15 March 2024 at the Directorate under NICRA project. Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director of the Institute inaugurated the program and talked about impact of climate change on day to day life as well as on weed and crops. He also said that through plantation we can mitigate adverse impact of climate change and also taught farmers on how to take care of plant sampling given to the farmers.

Dr. Shobha Sondhia, Principal Scientist and Course Director of this program talked about impact of climate change on crop-weed interaction and efficacy of herbicides. Dr. P.K. Mukherjee, Principal Scientist (Agronomy) informed about various herbicides for effective control of Rabi weeds in wheat crop and importance of surfactant while applying herbicides. Dr. Deepak Pawar, Scientist, Agril Biotechnology informed the farmers about safety kit and its importance. In interactive session, various weed management queries of the farmers were answered.

Plant saplings of Sapota, Jackfruit, safety kit and gumboot were distributed to 35 Farmers of Archa, Bandha, Jujhari villages of Panagar and Gosalpur localities under the NICRA project. A field visit was also made and research experiments on weed management practices in Rabi crops, weed cafeteria and FACE, OTC facilities under NICRA project were shown to the farmers. Dr. Deepak Pawar, Scientist and Dr. Dasari Sreekanth, Scientist (Plant Physiology) coordinated the training. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Sreekanth.
