ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna organised one day training cum farmers’ awareness programme under SCSP component of network project on Buffalo improvement program on 27th February 2024 in Dipuji Jan Pam village of Kamrup (M) district, Guwahati. A team of four Scientists Dr. Kamal Sarma, HoD and Principal Scientist, Dr. Narayan Bhakta, Principal Scientist, Dr. P.C. Chandran, Senior Scientist and Dr Rohan Kumar Raman, Senior Scientist of ICAR RCER, Patna interacted with schedule caste farmers on agriculture and livestock based integrated farming system. During the training programme the possibilities of improving the livelihood in wetland ecosystem using agriculture, livestock and fisheries resources were discussed among the farmers. Further agricultural inputs such as delivery pipes, sprayers and vegetable seeds were also distributed among the farmers. More than 60 farmers participated in the program and got benefitted with scientific inputs and knowledge on recent agricultural technologies. At the end of the programme farmers interacted with the scientists and expressed their desire to have more such scientific activities on regular intervals for getting motivated to adopt new technologies for increasing their income level. The programme was coordinated by the local resource persons Shri Govind Mondal among others.
