ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna conducted five days training programme for the farmers of Lakisarai district of Biharon the topic “Samekit Matsya Palanki Adhunik Taknikiyan” from 8-12May 2023. The training programme was funded by Department of Fisheries, Government of Bihar, wherein a total 30 fish farmers from the Lakhisarai districttook participation. The training was inaugurated by the presence of the Dr Anup Das, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Acting, Head, DLFM, ICAR-RCER, Patna, Dr PC Chandran, Senior Scientist, DLFM. The objective of the training was to develop interest and entrepreneurship in the field of fisheries among the farmers. The training was started from the inaugural speech of our respected Director who elaborated the benefits of integrated fish farming in Bihar. This was followed by expert lectures by various scientists of our institute on numerous topics including integrated fish farming, preparation of pond, selection of suitable fish varieties, feeding, nutrition and disease management of the fishes, mushroom production and management in integrated fish farming and integrated agricultural production model (one acre and two acre model). Lectures were also delivered on the important topics like care and management of the livestock and the benefits of the integrated fish cum poultry, ducks and goat. Expert lecture from other organization in which Shri Gauri Shanker, Joint Director, Mithapur Research Center Department of fisheries, Government of Bihar Patna, has taken lecture on government policies for enhancing the fish production in Bihar. The practical exposure to the farmer son cattle farm, goat farm, poultry farm and fish farm as well as integrated farming system were given at the institute. During the training programme, one day field visit at fish hatchery,Jalandha, Vaishali, and a fish farm at SonmarChaur, Samastipur was organized for the interaction and exposure of aquaculture with progressive fish farmers of Bihar to energize the trainees. Most of the farmers were highly satisfied with the training. The training programme was completed on 12 May, 2023 by concluding remarks byDr.Kamal Sarma, Head, DLFM, ICAR-RCER, Patna, Dr Anup Das and the chief guest Shri Gauri Shankar.Dr Jaspreet Singh was the course Director and DrTarkeswar Kumar and Dr M. K. Tripathi were the course coordinator of the training programme.
