A five-day training course on “Mushroom Growing Practices for Winter Season” was organised by the Skill Development Centre at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). In total, 76 farmers and farm women participated in the course, which aimed at honing the cultivation skills of the trainees for the successful mushroom cultivation.

The Associate Director (Skill Development) and Additional Director Communication Dr TS Riar advised the farmers to freshen-up their skills by receiving training from PAU and reap economic advantages from the subsidiary occupation of mushroom growing.

Dr Prerna Kapila, Course Coordinator, said that the experts delved upon cultivation techniques, processing and profitable marketing of mushrooms which could be adopted as an enterprise with low investment and more returns.

Dr Lavleesh Garg, Co-Coordinator, exhorted the farmers and the farm women to enter into Agripreneurship by staring their own ventures relating to mushrooms.

Technical Coordinator Dr Shivani Sharma and expert Dr Jaspreet Kaur shed light on the cultivation of paddy straw, milky, dhingri and Shiitake mushrooms during the winter season.

Mrs Kanwaljit Kaur proposed a vote of thanks.
